Apoua & Fa’amu | A blessed wedding at Puketutu Island Estate

A Clear Day in Auckland

We arrived early at Puketutu Island Estate.

Clear skies, no wind, just a clean view across the water. One of those Auckland wedding days where everything lines up.

Apoua was calm, just hanging with his boys. No stress at all. You can tell straight away he’s someone people respect.

Fa’amu was smiling the whole time. Talking to everyone, making people feel at ease. Just enjoying it.

Friends First

They’ve known each other for a long time.

Started as friends, then slowly turned into something more.

When you film couples like that, it shows. Nothing feels forced. They’re already comfortable with each other.

That makes a big difference on camera.

A Samoan Wedding Ceremony

The ceremony was led by their pastor, and it had a strong spiritual feel.

This wasn’t just a formal part of the day. People were involved.

There was singing, prayer, and moments where everyone joined in together. It felt like a proper Samoan wedding ceremony, not just something to watch, but something to be part of.

From where I was filming, I didn’t need to direct anything. Just let it play out.

Reception and Samoan Performances

Once we moved into the reception, the energy changed.

There were traditional Samoan performances, full of movement and meaning. Not just for show.

The crowd was into it. People reacting, cheering, getting involved.

This is what makes Samoan weddings in Auckland different. There’s culture in it, not just decoration.

Same-Day-Edit at Puketutu Island Estate

We put together a Same-Day-Edit for them during the day.

Didn’t make a big deal about it, just worked in the background and built the film as things happened.

When it played at the reception, people stopped and watched.

But I was watching Apoua and Fa’amu.

They were focused on the screen the whole time. That’s all that mattered.

A Puketutu Island Estate Wedding

Puketutu Island Estate is one of those Auckland wedding venues that just works.

Open space, clean views, and enough room for both a relaxed ceremony and a big cultural celebration.

For this wedding, it fit perfectly.

Final Thoughts

This was a solid Auckland wedding.

Simple, calm, and full of culture.

Apoua and Fa’amu, appreciate you both for trusting us and letting us do our thing.

If you’re planning a Puketutu Island Estate wedding or a Samoan wedding in Auckland, this is the kind of day that shows how it can feel.
