Michael & Grace’s Mudbrick Vineyard Wedding

Michael & Grace’s stunning wedding at Mudbrick Vineyard on Waiheke Island was a heartfelt celebration of love that began in the most unexpected way. Captured by Mata Films, Auckland wedding videographer, this cinematic film showcases a cross-continental love story set against one of New Zealand’s most iconic wedding venues.

A Love Story I’ll Never Forget

Every now and then, I get to witness a love story that genuinely moves me — Michael and Grace’s wedding was one of those rare ones that reminded me why I do what I do.

Grace came to New Zealand from the UK, looking for a fresh start and a place to stay. She found a room for rent and arranged to meet the lead tenant — Michael. What started as a simple house tour slowly turned into conversations, laughter, shared meals… and then love. And on this incredible day, surrounded by friends and family from both sides of the world, they tied the knot.

A Wedding at Mudbrick Vineyard, Waiheke Island

Michael and Grace chose Mudbrick Vineyard & Restaurant on Waiheke Island for their wedding — and I can’t think of a more perfect venue for a story like theirs.

Mudbrick is truly something special. Perched above the vineyards with sweeping views of the ocean and Auckland skyline in the distance, it’s one of those places that feels like it belongs in a dream. The venue offered the perfect blend of elegance and intimacy, with a warm atmosphere that matched Michael and Grace’s energy perfectly.

Grace’s family made the long journey from the UK, and it was so touching to witness the coming together of two worlds — two cultures, two families, now united in celebration.

The Kind of Day You Just Don’t Forget

From the moment I started filming, I could feel how special this day was going to be. Grace was radiant, full of joy and presence. Michael — calm, collected, and clearly head-over-heels in love. The energy between them was electric, yet so grounded. As a filmmaker, that’s the kind of love you want to capture — not just what it looks like, but what it feels like.

The golden light hit just right, the vows were honest and emotional, and every speech had people in tears or fits of laughter (often both). There was nothing forced or overly staged — just real moments, real people, and a love that’s as genuine as it gets.

GARTH & LISA | A WEDDING AT GOLDIE ESTATE WAIHEKE

“Gravitation cannot be held responsible for people falling in love. How on earth can you explain in terms of chemistry and physics so important a biological phenomenon as first love? Put your hand on a stove for a minute and it seems like an hour. Sit with that special girl for an hour and it seems like a minute. That’s relativity.” - Albert Einstein
