Justin & Dalveen’s 3-Day Punjabi Wedding at Eagle Ridge | A Cultural Celebration
Justin & Dalveen’s 3-Day Punjabi Wedding
Justin and Dalveen’s stunning 3-day Punjabi wedding was a celebration of love, tradition, and unity. As their videographer, I had the privilege of capturing this unique blend of Punjabi and Middle Eastern customs, all set against the backdrop of some truly spectacular venues. Each day was filled with cultural richness, from the lively Sangeet and Jaggo to the serene Maiyan and the breathtaking wedding day at Eagle Ridge Country Estate.
Day 1: Sangeet & Jaggo – Vibrancy and Tradition
The celebrations kicked off with the Sangeet and Jaggo—two key Punjabi pre-wedding events. The Sangeet was alive with colorful dance performances, where friends and family performed energetic routines, bringing everyone into the spirit of celebration. The Jaggo is a traditional ceremony where the families come together to celebrate the upcoming union with music, dancing, and a lighted brass pot with a candle light. In this case, what made the night even more special was the couple leading everyone to the Te Awamutu Sports Club, which was named after Dalveen’s grandfather. It was a meaningful way to tie in family history with the start of their new life together.
Day 2: Maiyan & Mehndi – A Calm and Cultural Gathering
The second day of festivities was much more relaxed, focusing on the Maiyan and Mehndi ceremonies. The Maiyan involves the application of turmeric paste to both the bride and groom, a ritual meant to bless and purify them ahead of the wedding day. The Mehndi ceremony is a traditional part of Punjabi weddings, where henna is applied to the bride’s hands and feet in intricate designs. This day was spent at the bride’s parents' farm, surrounded by family and traditional Punjabi food. It was a beautiful, calming day, and capturing these intimate moments felt like stepping into a different world filled with cultural richness.
Day 3: Wedding Day at Eagle Ridge Country Estate – A Magical Day Despite the Rain
The third and final day was the wedding day at the magnificent Eagle Ridge Country Estate in Ohauiti, near Tauranga. Despite the rain pouring all day, Justin and Dalveen remained joyful and undeterred. Their Sikh wedding ceremony was filled with love, and their vibrant reception brought warmth and happiness to everyone in attendance. The couple’s first dance was absolutely breathtaking, with fireworks and sparklers creating a magical atmosphere that felt straight out of a movie.
The venue at Eagle Ridge was nothing short of spectacular, offering panoramic views that would have been even more stunning on a clear day, but the rain did little to dampen the spirits of those in attendance. Both families came together to celebrate the union of two cultures, with Dalveen’s Punjabi roots blending beautifully with Justin’s Middle Eastern background, creating a wedding full of love and respect.

David & Xiaoxi’s Fun-Filled Wedding at Markovina Vineyard Estate | A Day of Love & Tradition
David & Xiaoxi’s Fun-Filled Wedding at Markovina Vineyard Estate
David and Xiaoxi’s wedding day was nothing short of magical at the breathtaking Markovina Vineyard Estate in Auckland. From the moment I met them, it was clear that their love was unique, and capturing their day was a privilege. Their journey from meeting at Otago University to celebrating their wedding day was filled with love, fun, and unforgettable moments, especially the Chinese traditions that added so much cultural richness to their celebration.
Chinese Door Games: A Fun Start to the Day
The wedding festivities kicked off with the traditional Chinese Door Games, where David and his groomsmen had to prove themselves worthy before seeing the bride. It was hilarious and heartwarming to see the group complete a series of fun challenges, which brought laughter to everyone in the room. These games added a unique and playful element to the day that I was excited to capture.
A Heartfelt Tea Ceremony
Following the door games was the Traditional Tea Ceremony, a beautiful and emotional moment where David and Xiaoxi offered tea to their parents and elders, symbolizing respect and gratitude. Watching the couple honor their families in this time-honored tradition was a highlight of the day, and it was clear how much love and respect surrounded them.
A Perfect Ceremony and Emotional Speeches
The wedding ceremony at Markovina Vineyard Estate was stunning, with perfect weather, gorgeous scenery, and heartfelt vows. During the speeches, Xiaoxi’s father welcomed David into their family with open arms, and it was beautiful to see how deeply the couple's love was felt by everyone. The speeches were filled with laughter, tears, and touching memories.
Cooking and Cleaning: A Cute Couple’s Agreement
One of the lighthearted moments came when David and Xiaoxi’s cute cooking arrangement was shared—David loves to cook for Xiaoxi, while she handles the cleaning. This little insight into their relationship brought smiles all around and showed just how well they balance each other.
Dancing the Night Away
The night ended with joyful dancing at Markovina Vineyard Estate, with family and friends flying in from Singapore and Malaysia to celebrate with the couple. It was the perfect way to close an amazing day, filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
